I volunteered for the CAPS afterschool program at Muscoy Elementary. Normally I would help teachers that I had in the past with grading or organization, but it was very passive service. I wanted to do something more, luckily one of my former teachers was somewhat a supervisor of the CAPS program and connected me with it. I was at first, afraid of volunteering for CAPS because I would be working with a group. Volunteering for them was similar to staring a new career, not knowing anyone nor the skills needed.
Voluteering for CAPS taught me many things. I tutored students with their homework. I also was pushed into helping the dance instructions with the students. ()Dance pictures of student performances is in next page) I also received respnsibilty and trust within my teachers there.
In my opinion, I grew the most with this activity because I pushed myself out of comfort zone. I loved helping students and the caps teachers with any task. My elementary was my home and without the experiences and lessons I had there made me into the person I am today. So, being able to help here was something that stuck in my mind. There wasn't a day where I left CAPS, smiling.
